OUR STORY
Sofa Tech has been operating since 2017, specialising in high-quality and mobile furniture repairs, sofa recolouring and leather rejuvenation across the Bay of Plenty and beyond. Our service radar is constantly growing and now reaches Bay of Plenty, Waikato, Christchurch, Auckland and soon we will be able to add Wellington to our list.
We are fortunate that our company has consistently grown and has given us the capabilities to bring on extra staff and train them to be the best in the industry. We are 100% mobile and offer our services to large chain stores as well as private customers. In the next few years, we aim to expand our service to almost every town and city in New Zealand. That’s us in a nutshell.

MEET THE TEAM
MEET MICHAELA
Managing Director and Owner
Our founder, Michaela, has been an upholsterer for over 20 years after completing training here in the Bay of Plenty. After training, she then shifted overseas for seven years and started working as an assistant to the head upholsterer at a large manufacturing company. Within a year, Michaela was suddenly promoted to head upholsterer as her superior left very suddenly – giving her a jump start into the career that opened many doors and allowed her to learn incredibly quickly.
She then went on to run every furniture upholstery and repair section around Australia for the same manufacturing company and progressed to Repairs Manager of Australia. This opportunity saw her flying all around Australia setting up, hiring and overseeing the repairs section of the company in each state.
MEET JASON
Managing Director
Jason is what is known as a “Jack” of all trades. Jason has come from a background that ranges from a hydraulic engineer to building kit set homes, running multiple Burger King sites then on to establishing a home and garden maintenance company that he sold before setting sail overseas. This enabled Jason to turn his hand to the Sofa Tech company with ease with a wealth of knowledge in tools and repair.
Jason took an interest in the leather repair section of the company and has trained nationally and internationally in leather care, repair and maintenance. Jason’s background in hydraulics and timber enables the company to perform out-of-the-box repairs for our customers including timber repair and welding. As the lead tech of Sofa Tech, Jason brings a wealth of knowledge, management and leadership that is second to none while also maintaining the managing director role all at once.
